Amazon’s Finance Technology (FinTech) team is enabling the company’s explosive growth by supporting the largest and most complex Oracle ERP and custom software platforms in the world. We are seeking a skilled Oracle Applications Developer to join our FinTech Payments team. As part of this team, you’ll drive technical and functional assignments, optimize programs, build scalable solutions, and play a key role in enhancing Amazon’s operations.

Position Overview

As an Application Engineer in the FinTech Payments team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and extending applications within the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and related open-source technologies. You’ll take ownership of architectural and design choices, develop new features, optimize existing applications, and support high-critical production issues.

This is a hands-on technical role that offers you the opportunity to work on complex and large-scale systems and deliver world-class solutions that power Amazon’s finance and payment systems.

Position Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Develop and extend applications within Oracle EBS and other technologies, including writing technical specifications and configuring standard applications.
  • Customization & Support: Modify standard forms, reports, and develop new ones. Support multiple applications across different geographies.
  • Integration: Build interfaces for data exchange within and outside the Oracle EBS suite.
  • End-User Support: Provide technical support for end-users across multiple regions, resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Leadership: Mentor and oversee junior developers, guiding them through technical tasks and providing leadership when needed.
  • Production Support: Participate in the support of critical production issues, sometimes requiring after-hours availability as part of the on-call rotation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field, and 2 years of experience in the role of Systems Analyst, Software Engineer, or similar, OR a Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in the same fields, and 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience in developing solutions for Oracle’s E-Business Suite with proficiency in SQL and PLSQL, including experience with Oracle development tools (Reports, Forms, BI Publisher, Workflow, JDeveloper).
  • Experience working with at least one of the following Oracle E-Business Suite applications: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Procurement, iProcurement, iExpense, General Ledger, Inventory, or Fixed Assets.
  • Experience engaging with Oracle Support to research and resolve technical issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional programming skills: Experience with programming languages like Perl or Java (helpful, but not mandatory).
  • Strong functional knowledge of Oracle EBS in a multiple organizations and multiple sets of books environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Solid interpersonal skills for effective communication across both functional and technical teams.
  • Root cause analysis and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, with a focus on highly available and scalable systems.
  • Experience prioritizing multiple competing demands, scoping large projects, and negotiating timelines effectively.
